Well that was an experience. Phil’s place is very remote. Make sure to review his directions and notes and be prepared.

We stayed over the Christmas holiday (12/24/20 - 12/27/20) with our two dogs (Mastiffs). As avid campers, we have been fortunate enough to spent time in some wonderful campsites over the years. This was the most secluded and enjoyable camping experience we have ever had!! It is exactly as advertised, but even more incredible than we expected. Very quiet and peaceful. We did not encounter any other people during our stay. We also spent hours walking the dirt roads with our dogs, and did not have to worry about cacti at all (as long as the dogs don't stray too far off the path). Phil and Molly were great, and the campsite was very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely the best site I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Open skies, clean grounds and plenty of room to roam. Absolutely perfect in every way.

The place was exactly as described. Be sure to take all Phil’s suggestions to heart, you will definitely be on your own out there! Phil was a great host who always responded immediately and gave great info about his property, and the gps file he provided made it super easy to find (I’m not sure we would have without it). We hope to have the opportunity to stay again in the future! Thanks Phil!!

Ocotillo Acres was so much fun! You literally could not get further away from it all then this place! The drive out to the campsite was such an adventure, and was one of my favorite parts of our trip. Do not underestimate the amount of time it takes getting to the camp though. Have all of the stuff you need for the trip before heading out there because there is no “popping into town” in any direction haha! If we wanted to leave and go do anything, it took us a solid 30 minutes to get back to the highway. That isn’t a complaint. It’s just a reality. Overall, the isolation was a huge perk, and if you’re looking for simple silence, this is the place for you. We used Ocotillo Acres as our base camp and then went to Big Bend during the day. We left all of our camping gear where it was, and we never had a problem with our stuff being messed with. (Probably because there’s nobody out there) Where you lose cell service, and civilization, you find peace, quiet, and the best stars you’ve ever seen. The trade was way worth it, and I would recommend this stay to anyone! I hope to be back!

Amazingly breathtaking views and undoubtedly the most peaceful vacation we’ve been on! If you want a rugged and bare canvas to create memories this is definitely the remote location for you too! Love it!

The remoteness makes for a great camping experience! 4WD or higher clearance necessary to access property.

Ocotillo Acres is a great escape from modern distractions and man made noise. This is the perfect destination to disconnect for a few days and enjoy the night sky. Take your time and follow the directions!

Phil and Molly's desert camp is very remote with maximum privacy. While I was there the only activity was nearby dirt bikes on Hen Egg Rd. Allow at least an hour to make it to camp from either direction.
If you're pulling a small RV be advised that you will have to back in to the site. Go slow, air down at least 15 pounds, and be mindful of the many blind corners. I cannot recommend this site for larger trailers or for vehicles with low ground clearance. 4 wheel drive was necessary for me in a few spots but may not be an issue for other drivers.

Remember when your dream of camping was quiet solitude filled with nature, peace and beautiful sunsets. Remember when the sounds that invaded your quiet solitude were imagined to only be coyotes greeting the morning, the breeze across the desert, and the sound of your own heartbeat. This place exceeds those dreams and the reality makes your imagination pale in comparison.
If you want another tent every 20 feet, screaming children, idling rv’s, electrical outlets, and shared bathrooms; this isn’t for you. If you want the galaxy on view without light pollution, zero crowds, no tourists, privacy, no litter, and peace ; then look no further.
It’s beautiful. It’s primitive. 4wd is recommended. Follow the route that Phil provides. Bring water and bring shade. We will return here again, it’s perfect for what camping means to us and it’s perfect for day trips to the National and state parks.
